Liiiists, glorious liiiiists, what more can I wish foooor!

I am always on the look out for lists. I love lists. And one of my favourite types of lists are inspiring website lists. So I have decided to create my own!
I came across a few of these in the Aussie design mag 'Desk Top' (which I am trying to track down here in NZ if anyone knows where I can get one from!) that are perfect for graphic designers and illustrators that need some inspiration.

Pixar and Aardman (creators of Wallace & Gromit among other genious characters) have been my favourite so far.

I encourage everyone to take a look. You really can spend hours in their websites. The site's themselves are a breath of fresh air.

Chocolately Goodness

The other night I had a craving for chocolate so whizzed up a self saucing pudding in the
microwave and it was epic!
I thought I would share the recipe with you and some pics of my quest!

60g butter
1 1/2 c self raising flour
1 c sugar
1/4 cocoa
3/4 milk
2 tsp vanilla
1 c brown sugar
1/3 cocoa (extra)
2 c boiling water

Melt butter, stir in flour, sugar, cocoa, milk & vanilla. Beat until smooth.
Mix extra cocoa and brown sugar together and sprinkle over mixture.
Pour water over mixture
Cook on high in the microwave for 12 minutes. Stand for 2 minutes before serving.

Boy

Today my partner bought Boy, what an epic film to come out of NZ once again. It never fails to surprise me how much these NZ movies really pull at my heart strings. I am pakeha, so I can't say that I know what it is like to grow up the way these kids have. But I am proud to call them fellow kiwis. What a beautifully directed movie. Congratulations Taika.

After...effects

Last night there were 2 big aftershocks. They lasted a good 20seconds each.
I'm really over them, we have had upwards of 100 now and its really unsettling.
We're told there are bigger ones to come, so with every shake you never know if its going to be the one that brings the house down.
I have also come under attack by the water I have been drinking.
We are meant to boil our water as they are flushing out all water into the ocean at present but I thought the water cooler (that is filtered) at work would be sweet as.
I was so, so wrong.
Today I'm home sick from work, and I think blogging is the only thing I have energy to do.

Earthquake Update

Heard some pretty disturbing facts today.

The earthquake that hit us yesterday here in Christchurch was the same size as the earthquake that hit Haiti.

Haiti's earthquake measured 7.0 on the rictor scale, and the epicentre was about 16km from the city.

Christchurch's earthquake was 7.4 and 30km away. We have 2 people injured and no loss of life.

Haiti had 3 million people needing medical aid and 230,000 people lost their lives.

This just breaks my heart.

If a country like Haiti had earthquake procedures in place like we do,
had the funding and education drummed into their society like we did here in NZ, then maybe those stats would have been different.

Today I give so much thanks for the life I have.
It really makes you appreciate what you have.

Yeah, I went there.

I never wanted to be 'that guy'... you know the one. The blogger that posts about my cat.
Well, I'm going to attempt it this afternoon. Bare with me till the next post and I will forever be in your debt.
I have failed myself, never mind you. I am 100% ashamed.
But my cat is F'ing crazy man.
I swear that he has schizophrenia. He is all cuddly one second and then BOOM, he's crazy.
You can see it in his eyes.
But he so dang cute I love his psycho-ness.
So I have attached some pictures of the royal scratchie/spider door climbing kitty.
Please don't judge me too much.

Storm is a brewin!

Waking up from yesterday was a little surreal.
Now we have gale force winds to endure tonight.
Time to get some dvds out and rug up for the night.

Christchurch Earthquake

I just went out and took some photos of the earthquake damage around Christchurch. It was pretty intense last night. We slept in the lounge so we were close to the front door. I probably ran outside over 15 times last night, and have had continuous large aftershocks since. It was pretty terrifying waking up to shaking. I was by myself, in the dark and it took me a good 20 seconds to comprehend it was an earthquake. But still, I can't complain.. we only suffered a few broken wine glasses and a little mess to clean up.

Here are some pics from today.
